As part of a drive to enhance the service user and staff experience at numerous DWP sites, BJF Group recently worked alongside Amey to refurbish and modernise an Assessment Centre in Leicester.

Following a full strip out of the circa 1,500m2 space, the team undertook a host of improvements to both the building fabric and mechanical and electrical systems.

The upgrades included the installation of power assisted doors to improve the building’s accessibility, CCTV and air conditioning, a new suspended ceiling with LED lighting and new flooring. We also reconfigured the space with new partitions walls and installed a new corridor.

Through meticulous planning and well-executed programming, the team were able to meet the client’s tight deadlines. Further to this, we supported Amey’s ambitions to embed enhanced health and safety practices when working at height by eliminating the use of traditional step ladders on the project and instead utilising manual lifts and platform steps.

Both our client Amey and the end-user were thrilled with the result with Nick Holgate, DWP Programme Manager describing the new space as bright, airy and really pleasant to be in. He goes on to say that “the collaboration has been really good and has led to the project being delivered on time”.
