As part of National Apprenticeship Week 2022 we caught up with Site Management apprentice Jack to find out how he’s been getting on since he started with us.
I have been working as an assistant site manager on an army barracks in central London, we have been refurbishing the living quarters for the soldiers. We have completed phase 1 (one side of the building) and we are now working our way through phase 2.
I have done so much since starting my apprenticeship, from working in coalition with sub-contractors to get the job done and help them in anyway I can to ensuring the health and safety on site is the best it can be. I have been in my apprenticeship for just over a year now and I’ve learned so much, it hasn’t been a smooth journey but from when the times were difficult that is when I learned the most. I am grateful that I have gone through the tough times as much as I’ve gone through the fun times.
I would definitely have to say getting the first part of the job at Wellington Barracks over the line. I am now focusing on getting the whole job over the line and that will then be the proudest moment.
I would like to think a lot of learning and gaining skills to help me in the long term that can help me to get the best out my job and go further in the industry.
Who knows what will happen in the future but I definitely would like to end up at the top.
