BJF Group’s Construction Division has secured a £3.5m+ refurbishment project at London’s prestigious Wellington Barracks working alongside Amey for the Defence Infrastructure Organisation.
Opened in 1833, Wellington Barracks is located a stone’s throw from Buckingham Palace and is steeped in national significance. It is home to members of the Guards, who take part in numerous ceremonial duties in London throughout the year including one of the most well-known, the Changing of the Guard.
Following a major strip out of an entire accommodation block plus kitchens, toilets, and communal areas we will be upgrading both the building fabric and the Mechanical & Electrical services. The building services elements will include refurbishing lifts, installing new efficient LED lighting throughout and air handling equipment.
The project is a complex one as we will be working in a semi-live environment with half of the block being occupied at all times meaning that we will have to take extra measures to minimise dust, noise and disruption to the day-to-day activities of the soldiers stationed at the barracks.
This project will provide a more modern, comfortable and energy efficient living space for members of our much-valued armed forces whilst maintaining its historical features.
