BJF Group’s Construction division has recently got the go-ahead for the £1.7m refurbishment and remodelling of the existing 1970’s Sevenoaks Community Centre to create the Bat and Ball Conference Centre.
The project involves extending the existing hall and the installation of a new ventilation system. The hall will incorporate new suspended acoustic rafts and lighting. The roof structure will be replaced with a new upgraded system to improve the energy efficiency of the building and will include solar panels. The new hall will also be used for the nursery adjacent to the site, there will be a covered external play area, which will have a rubber crumb play surface.
The works are part of a program of regeneration in northern Sevenoaks known as the Northern Sevenoaks Masterplan. The plan includes the refurbishment of the Bat and Ball railway station situated next to the community centre and affordable housing and commercial space in the future.
The centre is being renovated to include venue hire for weddings and other functions. There will also be new meeting and function rooms, which will be used to provide a further source of income for the council.
Cllr Nicholas Busvine, OBE, Mayor of Sevenoaks said:
“Sevenoaks Town Council is looking forward to working with BJF Group on this exciting community project.
The BJF contract element is part of the larger £2.75m project for a new Bat & Ball Centre which will serve the community for many years to come.”
