Working with Medway Council the BJF Group’s Construction Division has completed the design and construction of a £2m new build maths block and extension of the existing school hall at the Sir Joseph Williamson’s Maths School in Rochester, Kent.

The maths block replaces temporary portable buildings and provides the school with 11 additional classrooms, which is 1,000 m2 of additional teaching space.  The project also included the extension of the school hall and the existing playground to accommodate the increased student intake.

The project includes a number of energy-saving and environmentally friendly features.  The internal wall boards were manufactured using recycled materials and the lighting scheme was design to use sensor controlled LED lighting, which will improve the buildings energy efficiency for years to come.

Announcing the completion of the project in their Winter Newsletter the Leigh Academies Trust said:

“We are delighted with the new Mathematics Centre at Sir Joseph Williamson’s Maths School.  We have been keen to bring maths together in on purpose-built block for many years, an aim finally realised this term.”

We are proud to have left a lasting legacy in the community and increase the capacity of high performing local school.  We look forward to further projects with Medway Council in the future.
