Medway Council has selected the BJF Group to extend the hall and build a new maths block at Sir Joseph Williamson Mathematical School in Rochester, Kent.

The project, valued at around £2m, will provide much needed space to accommodate the growing number of students at this sought-after school. This is part of a wider scheme, the basic needs program, by Medway Council and Kent County Council which aims to get more students in to high performing schools.

The first phase of the project involves extending the school hall including the replacement and upgrading of existing M&E services and the installation of a new curtain walling façade.

The second phase, expected to be completed in late 2019, will provide 11 new classrooms replacing old modular buildings that are no longer fit for purpose. The new classroom block will be steel frame with composite metal deck flooring.

As part of the construction work BJF will be supplying and fitting a cascading removable wall, access lift and new M&E systems.

We will also be completing numerous associated external works such as drainage works and the extension of the playground and car parking area.
